Republican leaders laud fixes, lament failure on housing and emergency powers

As the Legislature begins the final week of the 2022 session, Republican leaders told media they were pleased to see some fixes to failed majority party policies, but said they were disappointed when Democrats declined to move legislation to improve the state's housing crisis and gave up on emergency powers reform 20 minutes into a House debate last week. Lawmakers answered questions on fixes to last year's police reform bills, energy policy, gun rights, the partisan nature of the Legislature and recent statements by Gov. Jay Inslee. Attending the meeting were House Republican Leader J.T. Wilcox, Rep. Drew MacEwen, Senate Republican Leader John Braun and Sen. Lynda Wilson.
