Statement from House Republican Leader J.T. Wilcox on Gov. Jay Inslee’s selection for Secretary of State

House Republican Leader J.T. Wilcox released the following statement on Gov. Jay Inslee’s selection of Sen. Steve Hobbs for Secretary of State:

“For decades, Washingtonians have chosen Republicans with deep experience in running elections to lead the Secretary of State’s Office. Governor Inslee has broken this tradition of election experience with this appointment.

“From a legislative standpoint, Senator Hobbs provided needed political balance in the state Senate. Governor Inslee has ended that balance and removed one of the most effective roadblocks in the state Senate to his controversial policies. That may be good for the governor, but it is bad for our state.”
