Republican leaders call for swift action to ensure Washington state is ready to accept Afghan refugees
House Republican Leader J.T. Wilcox, R-Yelm, and Senate Republican Leader John Braun, R-Centralia, have authored a letter to Governor Jay Inslee, the members of Washington's congressional delegation, Senate Majority Leader Andy Billig and Speaker of the House Laurie Jinkins regarding the ongoing crisis in Afghanistan.
“We call on leaders at all levels of state and national government to act swiftly and coordinate with refugee resettlement agencies to ensure duly vetted Afghan refugees can be welcomed here with open arms in Washington state,” say Wilcox and Braun in the letter.
