House Republican Leader J.T. Wilcox’s statement on Gov. Jay Inslee’s two-week pause on phases

House Republican Leader J.T. Wilcox released the following statement Wednesday:

“Many of us are dismayed by the inequitable treatment of Pierce County in comparison to King County. Last month, Pierce County asked for a pause on a phase rollback and was denied. This week, a pause was granted for King County.

“On April 16, House Republicans attempted to bring bipartisan emergency powers reform legislation to the floor for a vote. Every House Democrat – including those representing Pierce County – voted against it. I appreciate that there may be a letter circulating among the Pierce County delegation to send to the governor, and I hope it is successful. I also hope the lesson we all take from this is there should always be legislative oversight on emergency powers.”
