Republican leaders share end-of-session perspectives with media

House and Senate Republican leaders met with members of the Capitol press to review the 2021 legislative session, which adjourned Sunday. Legislators said they were disappointed by the partisan manner in which the majority party operated the mostly virtual session and regretted not being able to address emergency powers reform that would give the Legislature more say in a state of emergency declared by the governor. Senators and representatives fielded questions about transportation funding, police reform, and legislation making drug possession a misdemeanor for the next two years after the state Supreme Court ruled Washington's drug possession statute was unconstitutional. Speaking to reporters were Reps. J.T. Wilcox, Jacquelin Maycumber, and Drew Stokesbary and Sens. John Braun, Ann Rivers and Keith Wagoner.
