Rep. Wilcox tells KTTH emergency powers should be subject to legislative approval

Rep. J.T. Wilcox, R-Yelm, tells KTTH's Jason Rantz about a Republican plan to introduce a procedural motion Friday that would allow the House to vote on a bill requiring legislative approval of a state of emergency declared by the governor. House Bill 1557, which has bipartisan support, would cause a gubernatorial state of emergency to expire after 60 days unless renewed by the House and Senate. The bill would also give the Legislature the authority to terminate a state of emergency.
