Republicans address budget concerns, vaccine rollout


House and Senate Republicans answered questions about operating and transportation budgets proposed by Democrats and shared their concerns about restrictions slowing the rollout of COVID-19 vaccinations. Legislators also discussed Washington's ongoing state of emergency, car tab payment plans, attempts to rectify the state Supreme Court's decriminalization of drug possession and a controversial amendment authorizing emergency implementation of an open carry weapons ban at or near the Capitol campus and permitted demonstrations. Attending the press conference were Sens. John Braun, Mike Padden and Lynda Wilson and Reps. J.T. Wilcox, Andrew Barkis and Drew Stokesbary.
