Dear Friends and Neighbors,

As I mentioned in my last email update, House Republicans are fighting hard for you and your family this session. Our focus is on making communities safer, making life more affordable, and holding the governor and the majority party accountable for the decisions they make.

For example, we're holding them accountable for their push to impose a low-carbon fuel standard program in Washington, despite the fact voters overwhelmingly rejected a 2018 initiative to charge a fee on carbon emissions from fossil fuels. A low-carbon fuel standard program (really a regressive gas tax increase) would hurt families across the state, especially those in rural areas. It would also negatively impact businesses and increase the costs of products, hurting our economy while simultaneously doing almost nothing for the environment. In fact, government research shows (pg. 4) it's the least effective program to reduce carbon in the atmosphere.

For more than four hours on Wednesday, we stood on the House floor to present the case against HB 1110.

Take a look:

In the end, the bill passed 52-44, but I couldn't be prouder of how our caucus stood up for the people of this great state. As always, please feel free to contact me with any comments, questions or concerns you have about HB 1110 or anything else that's on your mind. It's an honor to serve you.
