Dear Friends and Neighbors,
Last week, lawmakers returned to Olympia to meet in their respective committees and discuss the most pressing issues facing our state. These two days—known as Committee Assembly Days—are always critical in preparing for an upcoming session.
The 2020 session will be fast-paced, as we will have just 60 days to complete our work. While the House Republican Caucus will tackle a wide variety of issues, much of our focus will be on restoring people’s trust in the Legislature. Our priorities will include eliminating the use of title-only bills (background here), defending your constitutional rights, and demanding fiscal responsibility. We will also work to help make life more affordable for all Washingtonians. Everyone has their version of the American dream, and whatever that may be, we want to help make it attainable for folks.
I talked about each of these things in my most recent video update, which I recorded earlier this week. I invite you to watch the update and send me an email with your feedback. Hearing directly from you not only helps me to lead our caucus more effectively, but it also helps me to better serve you.
Until next time, take care.
