Wilcox sponsors River Ridge High School junior as House page

River Ridge High School junior Anika Wilkerson traveled to Olympia last week to serve as a page in the state House of Representatives. She was sponsored by 2nd District Rep. J.T. Wilcox, R-Yelm.

Anika is a talented violinist, and plays in the River Ridge High School orchestra. She also cares deeply about animals, and one day hopes to become a veterinarian.

“It's always a privilege having the opportunity to sponsor students from the 2nd District as House pages,” said Wilcox. “Anika is a bright student, and the fact she wants to become a veterinarian one day speaks volumes as to the type of person she is. I appreciate her service to the House last week, and wish her the very best going forward.”

As part of her page duties, Anika learned to navigate the many buildings on the Capitol campus while delivering messages and documents to legislators and staff. She also attended page school every day to understand the inner workings of the Legislature.

To become a page, applicants must have a legislative sponsor, be between the ages of 14 and 16, and obtain written permission from their parents and school. Pages earn $35 per day while serving in the program. For more information about the House Page Program, click here.
