Wilcox sponsors brothers Cody and Daniel Johnston as pages in state House

Brothers Cody and Daniel Johnston recently traveled to Olympia to serve as pages in the Washington State House of Representatives. They were sponsored by their 2nd District Rep. J.T. Wilcox, R-Yelm.

Cody attends Yelm High School, where he runs track and wrestles. Daniel, who's one year younger, attends Yelm Middle School and plays the same sports. Both are active members of the Boy Scouts.

While serving as pages, the Johnston brothers attended page school every day, delivered messages and documents to legislators and staff, and fulfilled other tasks critical to the efficient operation of the Legislature.

“Cody and Daniel were both in my wife's class in elementary school, so it was fun to have the opportunity to sponsor them as pages,” said Wilcox. “They're both great kids and excellent students, and it's clear they have a heart for civic and community engagement. I want to thank them for their service to the House, and wish them both the best of luck going forward.”

Each year, students from around the state apply to participate in the House Page Program. To become a page, applicants must have a legislative sponsor, be between the ages of 14 and 16, and obtain written permission from their parents and school. Pages earn $35 per day while serving in the program. For more information about the House Page Program, click here.
