Rep. J.T. Wilcox once again takes leadership post in state House, lays out priorities

Re-elected last week to a leadership post in the state House Republican Caucus, Rep. J.T. Wilcox, R-Yelm, says the coming legislative session brings challenges and opportunities on a wide variety of issues.

Wilcox, who represents the 2nd Legislative District, was tapped again by his fellow House Republicans to serve as Floor Leader.

Economic growth, jobs and protecting the middle class will all be front and center in 2015, said Wilcox.

“Whatever the issue or legislation we consider, we've got to keep in mind that although parts of the economy are rebounding from the recession, wages for many middle-class workers have stagnated,” he said.

“We need economic policies designed to help people who are struggling. We also need to pass a state budget that spends taxpayer dollars responsibly and protects schools, public safety and the most vulnerable.”

The legislative session begins Jan. 12, 2015.
